skills support for the workforce launch event

A £13 million ESF (European Social Fund) Convergence investment aimed at tailored training for people in the workplace has been announced. It is estimated that Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) will support over 4,500 people as well as the many businesses involved.

Cornwall College is leading SSW, which will receive the ESF Convergence co financed by the Skills Funding Agency. The partners delivering the training are DMTBS, Focus Training, Petroc, Education and Training Skills, the Learning Partnership, General Physics, Cornwall Council and Truro and Penwith College.

Anyone aged 19+ who is employed or self-employed will be eligible and the particular sectors where the training will be aimed are rural land-based; public; food and drink; digital; tourism and leisure; marine; voluntary and community; care; low carbon; engineering and manufacturing and knowledge-based businesses.

The project aims to support local employees and businesses by providing skills training to low-skilled workers and supporting them into further learning or Apprenticeships.
