Traineeships

Traineeships logoTraineeships are designed to help you gain the skills and experience you need to get an apprenticeship or job.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Motivated to work.
  • Unemployed, or work fewer than 16 hours per week and have little work experience.
  • Aged between 16-24 and have no qualifications above GCSE or equivalent.

A traineeship usually lasts between six weeks to six months, helping you to gain the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

If you have no work experience on your CV, or you’d like to get a taster of a particular job or industry, you might like to consider work experience first.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  •  A high-quality work experience placement
  • Work preparation training
  • English and maths if needed.

NEXT STEPS:

1. Traineeship opportunities are advertised on Find a Traineeship on GOV.UK.

2. You could contact your local college or training provider to see if they are offering traineeship opportunities.

3. If you are in receipt of benefits you should speak to your Jobcentre Plus adviser.
