RCHT commit to at least double apprenticeship starts

Helen LynchA commitment to at least double the number of new Apprenticeships at RCHT over the next year was the talking point at a  breakfast meeting held on 6th March, where many of their apprentices, their managers and supervisors were marking National Apprenticeships Week.

The pledge made by Chief Executive, Lezli Boswell and Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Nick Macklin underlines the importance placed on developing career pathways within RCHT and bringing young, talented people into the NHS.

“Apprenticeships are a great benefit all round,” says Nick Macklin.  “They offer young people a really good alternative route into a wide range of careers and for us as an organisation our apprentices frequently bring a new dynamic and fresh ideas to the teams they join.  There’s no doubt apprenticeships will become an intrinsic part of our workforce for the future.”

During the event apprentices Sam Fairman and Erica Williams (pictured right with Apprenticeships lead at RCHT Helen Lynch), and Tom Blanning – who was unable to be present – received certificates in recognition of their respective nominations for the South West Healthcare Apprenticeships Awards earlier this week.
