Dan Rogerson, MP for North Cornwall, hosted the final 300 in 100 campaign launch event in his constituency on Friday 17th January 2014. Local employers were in attendance to find out more about apprenticeships and the benefits they can bring to their business.
Apprenticeship Ambassadors Andy Hardy, from Premier Carpets, and Mark Knight, from Cornwall Glass, answered questions about the positive impact that apprentices had made to their businesses. Representatives from the Cornwall Training Provider Network and the National Apprenticeship Service were also on hand to offer advice and guidance to businesses seeking to make the most of Government grants of £1500 currently available for employers that have not taken on an apprentice in the previous 12 months.
Dan Rogerson, MP for North Cornwall, said:
“Young people in North Cornwall are keen to work hard and get out there to find opportunities that will lead to a better future. I often hear from business owners impressed by the dedication and drive of young people on their team.
“In Government Liberal Democrats are committed to helping young people find work and have worked to create 1.5 million new apprenticeships nationally. I look forward to working with Cornish businesses to create even more apprenticeships locally that will help young people, businesses and the Cornish economy alike.”
