2. IDENTIFY SPECIFIC APPRENTICESHIPS

Use the Government’s ‘Find Apprenticeship Training’ tool to search for available Apprenticeship courses in a wide range of sectors, jobs types and levels.

Tip: Remember, you can also use Apprenticeships to upskill existing members of staff.

Use the search facility on ‘Find Apprenticeship Training’, to identify possible training providers and visit our Training Provider page.

4. SELECT PREFERRED TRAINING PROVIDER

Your selected training provider will explain the next steps, any costs to you and what Government or other funding you might receive.

Tip: Most training providers offer a free recruitment service and the Government will fund 95% of Apprenticeship training costs for most businesses.

5. CREATE YOUR APPRENTICESHIP ACCOUNT

The Government has set up a new system for employers to reserve and manage their Apprenticeship funding, find the right training and training providers, advertise, recruit and give feedback on the quality of training.

It’s easy to set up an account Create an account to manage apprenticeships - Manage apprentices (manage-apprenticeships.service.gov.uk)

5. CREATE YOUR APPRENTICESHIP ACCOUNT

6. RECRUIT AND SELECT

If you need to recruit, your training provider can advertise your vacancies and support your recruitment, or you can use your own recruitment and selection process.

Identify existing staff with skills gaps you would like to train.

7. AGREE AND COMMIT

Your training provider works with you and your Apprentice to assess any prior learning, skills and experience and develop an individual learning plan. All parties sign the Apprenticeship commitment and agreement and training commences.

8. ONGOING SUPPORT & SUCCESS

Training provider provides ongoing support to both employer and apprentice throughout the Apprenticeship. Once the Apprenticeship is successfully completed, you’ll have the option to progress your Apprentice onto a higher-level apprenticeship.

Remember to celebrate successful achievement of the Apprenticeship with your Apprentice.
