Inspiring & engaging young people
Inspiring young people about employment opportunities in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is important to making sure there is the pipeline of talent that businesses will need in the future.
The Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Careers Hub exists to link volunteers from the local business community with schools and colleges to help bridge the gap between education and employment.
The Careers Hub is always keen for more businesses, innovators and industry experts to work with them and local secondary schools to help make this happen.
If you would like to help inspire the next generation in Cornwall and Scilly, please contact the Careers Hub about how to get involved.
Other ways employers can inspire and engage with young people include:
Traineeships – employers are offered £1,000 for hosting a work placement to prepare a young person for work or an Apprenticeship.
Kickstart – until December 2021, employers can apply for substantial funding to create 6-month placements for young people aged 16-24 who are seeking work and in receipt of Universal Credit.
T Levels – new technical qualification, equivalent to A Levels where students must complete a work placement/project during their 2-year programme.
Work Experience – provide an experience of work for a year 10 or above student.
