Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Children’s Services throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
We introduced Apprenticeships within the Trust in 2009. Since then we have had over 70 successful apprenticeship completions, many of which have stayed within the Trust and continue to progress further. As an employer, we have seen the real benefit and value that Apprenticeships add to our Business.
The Apprenticeships we offer range from Health and Social Care, to Finance, and our newest one in Leadership and Management. The minimum application age for an Apprenticeship with CFT is 16 for administrative roles and 18 for clinical roles, with no maximum age limit for any of the apprenticeships we offer.
As an Apprenticeship Ambassador, our role is to promote Apprenticeships and offer advice and guidance to other prospective employers. We have held events and road shows for potential apprentices and attended “have-a-go” sessions throughout the County. We provide feedback to NAS and the Government about any issues which affect the quality and effectiveness of Apprenticeships and also input our own ideas about developments of new Apprenticeship Frameworks.
The Trust have been successful in achieving the NHS Southwest Apprentice Employer of the Year Award in 2013, this is an accolade which we are very proud of and identifies our commitment to the future of Apprenticeships.
We would like to share our experiences, successes and knowledge with you so if you have any questions or would like some information and advice about Apprenticeships from an employer’s perspective, then please contact Kylie Wickett on 01726 873207 who would be happy to discuss further.
