Cornwall Council

Cornwall Council delivers services to more than half a million local people and to over five million visitors a year, with over 5,000 employees working directly for the Council. Some of the services we deliver include care for the elderly, children’s safeguarding, libraries, road maintenance, fire and rescue service, recycling, parks, street cleaning, countryside management, social housing, town planning, tourism support, and trading standards. With such a diverse service we are able to provide Apprenticeship opportunities in a number of areas, though the most frequently used frameworks are Business Administration, Customer Services, Finance, IT, and Management.

We strongly believe that developing and supporting our employees puts us in a great position to deliver better services to the people of Cornwall and so great emphasis is placed on developing an individual’s skills and career. Apprenticeships help us to develop potential future talent, by providing development opportunities for existing employees, and in supporting people into a challenging and rewarding career with us. In the last two years 150 employees have undertaken an Apprenticeship framework bringing benefits to individuals, teams, and the Council as a whole.
