Andy Hardy

Premier Carpets

Andy has always been passionate about teaching young people, giving them the chance to gain qualifications and progress in a very satisfying, well paid trade that will stay with them wherever they may choose to go.

Andy recognised the huge advantages of having local youngsters assist their eager to teach peers in the day to day tasks (whilst learning & earning) early in the process. The good feeling & enthusiastic atmosphere generated by these teacher apprentice relationships resonates throughout the company and is quickly noticed and praised by our customers.

1999, Andy started the business in & recognised a lack of official qualifications for operatives in the industry that would give customers, contractors or the public confidence that the products were being installed to any given standard.

1999 onwards Searched for apprenticeship`s/qualifications for employee`s.

Became an NICF (National Institute of Carpet & Floor-layers) Master Installer in 1999 and represented the South West of England in 1999, 2000 and 2001 at the national carpet & floor-layer of the year competition.

Severe lack of assessors in the industry was a major stumbling block to gaining qualifications for staff.

2002, Started a D32 & 33 assessor qualification with the NICF that came to a dead end.

Persevered & Achieved A1 & A2 assessor award in 2009.

Premier Carpets & Flooring signed up 9 installers to the carpet & flooring full frame-work apprenticeship with a private provider in 2010. Andy was initially the trainer & assessor for the qualification.

2011, Premier Carpets & flooring became one of the Top 100 National apprentice employers.
